I have a filter for my 150 litre (40 gal) tank and its a ''otto'' brand internal powerhead filrer with two sponges that filters 600 litres per hour. Is this a good filter or should i upgrade? I own cichilds and currently have 6, Thanks!

Also has anyone noticed the new spelling checker at the side is American? Liters litres same darn word different country, bit rude i think!

  1. You should be alright as they always say that you need to have a bigger filter than you need. It should also be alright because you only have a few fish, dependent on how big they are. If they are quite large you need a bigger filter but if they are about 2 inches at the most you'll be fine. This is the general rule - 5 litres per 1 inch of fish. But this sometimes varies because if you have goldfish this is wrong as they produce alot of waste but 4 Neons, which would be the same size if added together wouldn't produce half as much waste as the goldfish.

Also I've noticed the American spell checker when i posted my question, which could probably help with as you have Cichilds.
