Filter status, display help

Question

I have just purchased an lg grl207tuja american fridge freezer. The front display for the filter status is not lit is this correct, or should it only light up when the filter needs replacing. I have reset it by pressing it for the 3 seconds and this has made no difference to the display. All the other functions appesr to be ok.
Need to know before i call then out to fix.Thank you
