Final Fantasy 7 PS1 Game will not save on my PS2?

I have just bought the PS1 platinum edition version of Final Fantasy 7 which plays no problem on my PS2.

I have an 8mb PS2 memory card which is completely empty however when the game enables you to save at the checkpoints when i enter the menu and select SAVE it shows the SLOT1 and SLOT2 but nothing highlights and when you click on either save slot it says No Memory Card even though when you turn the console on and go through the browser setting it shows the memory card no problem.

Anyone know what the solution is or do i need a PS1 memory card????????

You cannot save PS1 games on a PS2 card.  You'll have to buy a PS1 card.  There's no other way to do it.

im afraid that its not possible to save a ps1 game to a ps2, because both memory cards from each console are completely different and of different megabytes. trust me , my dad tried doing this and it didnt work

you need a PS1 memory card because the game wont recognize the PS2 memory card

Youve got to put a ps1 memory card into youre ps2 to let you save the games
