PlayStation 3 users will get their hands on a playable demo on the PSN of the latest Final Fantasy game before the full release.
Fans of the popular role playing franchise over here in the West have something to look forward to as there is news that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be hitting their consoles in the near future.
That is the one bit of good news, with which there is also some not so good news and a bit of no news as well. Starting off with the not so good news and that is word that only the demo for the game will be released and not the full game; something which
readers would have concluded after reading the headline to the story.
Secondly, the ‘no news’ is the fact that no one knows when the demo will actually hit the PSN store. The game itself is scheduled for a full release in the United States in the first few weeks of February, which would mean that a mid-January release date
for the demo itself would not be a bad guess.
There is a catch though as gamers in Europe might have to wait longer as there was no confirmation of the demo making its way onto the European PSN; meaning that at this point in time there are more questions than answers.
Yet, the news of the demo came from a reliable source itself as the story appeared in the US Official PlayStation Blogcast.
The Final Fantasy games have been around since the early days of console gaming and have a dedicated and fiercely loyal fan base as well. The latest game in the series is another strong entry in the series as it has received nothing but praise when it comes
to review scores from critics.
At the same time a concern for the game’s publisher would be the fact that, in Japan at least, the game has not been selling as well as expected. Whether or not there will be an improvement when it hits shelves over here in the West is something only time
will tell.
