Final Four of the 2012 CEV Champions League to be played in Lodz, Poland – Volleyball news
The third largest city of Poland, Lodz is all set to host the crucial final phase of the 2012 CEV Men’s Champions League at the weekend.
The volleyball action will be kicked off on Saturday, March 17 and two semi-final matches will be played. The winners of the semis will meet on Sunday in the final showdown of the tournament, while the losing teams will compete for third position in the
classification match on the same day.
Poland’s PGE Skra Belchatow is one of the top four teams of the competition, which will try to get their hands on the European crown. Poles are joined by Turkey’s Arkas Izmir, Trentino PlanetWin365 of Italy and Russian Zenit Kazan in the Final Four.
The first semi-final will put the hosts in competition with the Turks. The local heroes of PGE Skra Belchatow will take on Arkas Izmir at 1430 (local time), whereas PlanetWin365 and Zenit Kazan will cross their ways in the second match at 1730 (local time).
All the matches of Final Four stage will be played at the Atlas Arena situated at the heart of Lodz. Poland has great fan following and is known for its hospitality. Lodz has the privilege to host many international competitions. The tickets for the final
four matches of CEV Men’s Champions League have already been sold out.
Since the local team is also playing in the final round, many VIPs are expected to attend the matches. Poland’s Vice Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak will come to watch the finals on Sunday. It is not confirmed yet but he may show up for the semis as well.
Furthermore, many of Polish politicians will be attending the event. In this regard, some jokes are also circulating that the Polish Parliament may proceed it official session at the Atlas Arena. There is indeed great hustle and bustle in the city and everyone
