Does the Tax papers for the sponsors need to be certified by the IRS or is signing the I-184 enough with submitting copies of tax returns and w-2s?

they usually accept the photocopies of the tax returns and w-2, but the best you can do is request a transcript of the tax returns. the irs provides them at no charge by calling 1-800-829-1040, takes from 5-15 days to receive them in the mail. be sure you request the transcript and not a photocopy, the irs does charge $39.00 for a photocopy of the actual tax return. you should use form I-864 not I-184
