Final list of 17 teams announced for the Exergy Tour 2012
Organisers of the Exergy Tour have announced the list of the final 17 teams to participate in the 2012 version of the race.
James Carkulis is the CEO of Exergy Development Group and the sponsor of the race has shown faith in the race for the current season.
He noted, "I am confident we have found the right balance with the 17 teams that shall be competing at the inaugural Exergy Tour. Showcasing ladies professional cycling at the international level in the USA has been remiss".
"We are honoured to welcome these athletes in the first year of the Exergy Tour and dedicated to grow into the future as one of the premier ladies professional cycling races in the world," he concluded.
The event will be featuring a total number of 14 UCI Pro Teams and 3 Elite Teams. The race organisers are certain to put up a good show.
The UCI Pro Teams riding the event include Team Specialized-lululemon, Team GreenEdge, Team Diadora-Pasta Zara, Team Faren Honda Team, Dolmans-Boels Cycling Team, Team Tibco-To the Top and Team Exergy Twenty 12.
Team ABUS Nutrixxion, Axman Team Taiwan, Team Topsport Vlaanderen-Ridley 2012, Team Forno D’Asolo Colavita, Sengers Ladies Cycling Team, Canadian National Team and Ukraine National Team, are also participating.
The three Elite Teams confirmed to ride the biggest women’s cycling event of the region comprise of 100% American line-up.
Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies, Team NOW and Novartis for MS and Team Colavita-espnW Pro Cycling form the three Elite Teams to participate in the 2012 version of the Exergy Tour.
Heather Hill is the Marketing, Communications and the Events Director of the race and he is certain that the former World and Olympic Champions will put up a good show during the race.
"We expect the competition level to rival the classic European races and to set a new standard for the highest level of ladies professional bike racing in North America".
The Exergy Tour 2012 is scheduled from May 24-28, and a number of world class athletes from across the globe are warming up for the coming event.
