Final ranking of 2011 CEV Girls’ Youth European Championship revealed
Following the successful completion of 2011 CEV Girls’ Youth European Championship, the Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV) has revealed the final standings of the teams.
The final round of the championship was hosted by Turkish Capital Ankara. Prior to that, the aspiring teams from different parts of Europe contested their skills in the qualification tournaments, which were held in various countries.
However, a total of 12 teams qualified for the final round of the championship. In Turkey, teams were divided into two pools: Pool I & Pool II
Each team was offered equal chances to vie for the semi-final slots. The first leg of the final round completed its run from April 30 to May 5. The top two teams from each pool were finalised for the semi-finals. The ball continued rolling over the net and
finally the top two teams were uncovered. Girls from Italy and Turkey survived until the final encounter of the championship. The final showdown was staged on Sunday, 8th May at the Baskent Sports Hall in Turkish Volleyball Federation Complex. At the end of
the final game, Turkey emerged as the top team of the tournament.

The Turkish team managed huge success under the command of Brazilian coach, Marco Aurelio Motta. It was the first competition that the team played in the supervision of Brazilian coach. Motta joined the Turkish squad at the end of last season and it was
his primary task to lead the team to success. He worked out a great plan for his team and guided them to top slot in the ranking. The Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) is greatly pleased with the act of Motta.
Now that final teams have been awarded the ranking points, the top six teams of the 2011 CEV Girls’ Youth European Championship will get a chance to play at the 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth World Championship.
Other than that, top 8 teams have also been confirmed for the European Youth Olympic Festival, which is scheduled to run in the month of July. The Olympic Festival will be hosted by Turkish city Trabzon.
