Final round of Nordea Masters underway as players observe one minute silence on Norwegian bombing
The final round of the Nordea Masters in Sweden is underway and a minutes silence was observed to remember the victims of Friday bombings in the neighboring Norway. Players and officials at the Bro Hof Slott Golf Club stood in silence to mark the incident
of car bombing and rampage killing in Oslo, where a right-winged Christian fundamentalist shot and killed at least 92 people.
Alexander Noren, who has now become the “untouchable” in the event with his jaw-dropping lead of 11 strokes, is likely to maintain his composure and an even-par final round can ensure his victory in the tournament. The 29-year-old Swede has opened up his
front nine with a birdie on the first hole but fell for a bogey at par-four, 3rd. He remained bogey-less on the third day and his lead is likely to be challenged by the long-hitting Bubba Watson.
Watson also opened up his front nine with a birdie on the first hole but now has dropped down to the third place after stumbling on two consecutive bogeys on the proceeding holes. Englishman Richard Finch has gradually climbed up the leaderboard after carding
average rounds on the last three days. He started off the final round carding three birdies till the halfway mark on the front nine and is currently eight-under on the aggregate. He posted opening rounds of 69, 72, and 70.
Robert Karlsson, the former number one European Tour player is almost done with his front nine with an even-par for the moment. He also had a disappointing third round on Saturday when he fell in for two bogeys on the back nine and was able to remain afloat
owing to his two birdies.
Dustin Johnson, the highest ranked player in the event, fell in for a bogey earlier in the morning at par-four, 5th and is ready to make the turn for his back nine. Johnson finished runners up in last week’s Open Championship marking his third
major for the season where he finished near the summit.
Robert Karlsson, the amateur who topped the leaderboard on the first day, has now slumped to a disappointing four-over, carding five bogeys on the front nine in the morning.
