Final route for the 2012 Exergy Tour released
Organisers of the five-day women race, The Exergy Tour have announced the final route for the 2012 version of the race.
The event is scheduled from May 24-28 in Southwestern Idaho and will take the cyclists to six different host cities during the event.
Medalist Sports is looking after the competition and will also provide the technical assistance during the race.
It also manages various other events including the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Colorado and also the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah.
Heather Hill is the communications and the events director of the Exergy Tour and he is determined that the chosen route will explore the true treasures of Idaho.
He noted, "We want the route to be a postcard for the state of Idaho and the Treasure Valley”.
"Idaho isn't just mountains, it isn't just downtown Boise, or lake and river front Canyon County, or small farm communities, it is a mix of all of these and the people that call them home”.
“We have been welcomed by all of these people and plan to show their communities to the world", he concluded.
Technical Director of Medalist Sports, Jeff Corbett cited that, the designed course will challenge the cyclist and it will suit all categories of cycling specialists.
He briefed that the 2012 route of the Exergy Tour is ideal for the time trial specialists, the climbers and the sprinters.
"We tried to create a course that was competitive, but that didn't favour any one type of rider", Jeff mentioned.
Cyclists from nine different countries including Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Taiwan, Ukraine United States, Australia, Belgium and Canada will participate at the race.
A total number of 17 top professional cyclists will be chosen from the mentioned countries for the five-day event.
Heather Hill explained that the Exergy Tour will be an ideal opportunity for the cyclists competing at the 2012 Olympic Games.
The event will fine-tune the cyclists before the mega event and on top of that, it will also provide the ranking points required to qualify for the London Olympics.
The Exergy Tour is a 2.1 ranked event by the UCI and is the only women’s race in the North America for the 2012 season.
