Are you going for hardware, software, the social aspect or a combination. ("Networking" has different meanings that get mixed up frequently, as the questions in this "Computer Networking" forum will prove.)

New success is always based on picking the brains of successful people.

Call a local business, that you know has several computers inoffice.  Example, such as an attorneys office, or a larger corporate insurance office.  Ask to talk to the IT specialist.

Ask what Security settings they use.

My corporation uses Avast Pro.

Ask how the Computer person sets up each individuals access to the Server Files and Accounting programs, such as their PeachTree or QuickBooks, and other.

And who in the corporation give him the instructions to assign which users which permissions.  

They might give you some lunch time peek at the settings.

It would be great if you could find a corporation that has several child businesses, and how they use the "invite" proceedure to set up users to use the Accounting program.

Example:  A larger condominium, has child entities such as their Restaurant, Spa, Gift shoppe, Front Desk, Maintenance group, and other services necessary to run the big corporations to make it all work.

Your very best bet is to get a look at their set-up first hand.  It will help you for your final, and for the real life situation as well.
