Okay. So I have a Hitachi DVD Camcorder. To finalize the disk you have to use this little power cord that connects from the battery charger right into the battery port. And I lost the cord!!

I was recently on a cruise and all of my vids are on DVD-R's but I cant finalize them.

Is there a way to finalize them on a computer?? Is there a software?? Or can I overide the camera to do it?? Please Help!!! ASAP!

  1. sorry not an answer...but just confirming why DVD camcorders should be avoided.

  2. The finalize process MUST be done by the camcorder that took the video and saved to the miniDVD discs. If you don't want to get your camcorder operational, the other option is to get the video off those discs and into your computer...

There are some requirements and other info you should know:

    1) Your computer must have a DRAWER loading DVD optical drive. If the optical drive is slot loading or if the optical drive is on for CDs, this will not work.

    2) DVD based camcorders were never meant to have the video edited. The video quality you get onto your computer won't be very good (compared to hard drive or some higher end flash memory - better - or MiniDV tape - best).

    3) You get ISOBuster to "recover" the data on the non-finalized DVDs... and you may also need HandBrake to rip the video.
