  1. The gormless b*****d should have done this from the start !

  2. .National service, when will they bring that back!.  Kids get away with too much, they need to learn discipline

  3. Mmm go figure ehh, i sleep easy at night knowing this man has the country under control what would we do without him............)P  *sarcasm*

  4. It's not always fair to blame the parents.  Sometimes parents do the right things but some kids are just born bad.  And what age group is he talking about?  If you have a 6+ foot 16yr old, you're not exactly going to be able to search & ground him, are you?

It annoys me that everyone else seems to get blamed except the knife carriers themselves!  They're the ones causing the problem, they're the ones that should be punished.  Bang them up when caught carrying a knife, regardless of age.

Edit - P.W. having only one parent does not automatically make you a knife-carrying loser.  As a lone parent working hard and successfully raising well-adjusted teenagers, I find that thought deeply insulting.

  5. Give me a break. There should be tougher laws to start with and more discipline!! - bring back national service!!

  6. I agree mostly with that, however, there r youngsters that go off the rails even though their parents have brought them up well and cannot be faulted, I have seen that happen with some friends.

Media and propaganda are very evident nowadays.

I believe and I have seen it myself that most young people are o.k. (these events are not  caused by the majority) it is a hard core few who need to be dealt harsh punishments. People make the mistake of trying to understand them, dont - just punish - and take them out of society.

  7. It is about time the government took control over this awful situation. People are being killed by knife wielding thugs on a daily basis but I suspect that the most dangerous criminals will continue to go around with knives in their possession for where are the police to arrest them. It is sad that I will no longer be able to carry my multi purpose pen knife with me any more for fear of being arrested and jailed. All we need is for those found using knives to hurt other people to be arrested and sentenced to short sharp punishment is camps with nothing more than necessities and to be treated so badly that they would not wish to repeat the exercise. It is my opinion that anyone found causing physical harm to other people should receive similar punishment for they deserve to lose their human rights for the suffering they cause.

  8. To little to late in my opinion they are grasping at straws now, they didn't listen to the public when they had the chance and now they know it will all end at the next election.

  9. He had to wait for the current series of "Big Brother" to end, in order to get their attention.

  10. Why doesnt he bring in new tougher laws fow 18 and under kids which can and will actually be implemented instead of pampering them and blaming parents.

You cant keep teens housebound 24/7obviously, you cant smack them or your arrested.  All you can really do legally is talk to them which doesnt always work.

Kids learn from there mistakes give them severe consequences for there actions to make them think twice.

s***w the asbo bring back borstals and national service

If the government gave parents thier authority back instead of outlawing most punishments maybe the results will be better as the parents wont be worried about being arrested.

Kids can get away with anything they know the police cant touch them what chance have parents got

  11. he is dippy...he just talked lets c if he can walk the walk..

  12. Parent (singular) more like!

  13. He can talk the talk but can he walk the walk?

I doubt it. He's as useless as a chocolate frying pan.

  14. Personally, and from a parents point of view as I am a parent, the problem of knife crime, cannot purely be attributed as the parents fault. This is an extremely complex issue, for example living in deprived areas, poverty, young people feeling a sense of hopelessness, not feeling valued within the wider context of Society.

The media also plays a huge part in this issue, it fuels the issue further. Furthermore how often are young people, portayed in a positive light in the media? It's extremely rare, yet there are many positive things that young people do. It's all too easy to blame the parents, and young people when things go wrong. I don't for one minute condemn stabbing another human being, but I think the approach that the government needs to be taking is a bottom up approach, not a top down approach.

We need to understand where young people are coming from, as well as their parents. As for showing young people victims of knife crime, I dont feel this will work, there may be a select few that it makes a difference to, but overall it will fail. As a Society we need to stop, judging, stereotyping, discriminating, and excluding young people, as I believe there are many angry young people out there. We have a responsibility towards young people, if we want them to be productive members of Society, then we need to be doing the above, not to mention the Government has a responsibility to start portraying more young people in a positive light.

I don't necessarily agree with your statement, where you say the young people, who have caring responsible parents dont commit knife crime. This is a very simple statement, you make yet a very complex issue. Human nature, and more importantly parenting is extremely complex, It's like saying, an individual who comes from a caring background does not become involved in drugs, when actually this does happen. Look at the young woman who died from a heroin overdose some years ago, where the media showed the image of her deceased, in order to educate young people regarding the dangers of drugs. Yet she came from a respected and caring family.

  15. Talking is all he does.

  16. latest news-

  17. finishing doing up his second home, thats more important

  18. I don't believe a word he says, he always tells us what he is trying to do and what he is intending to do ,what he is looking at doing but never what he has done that has been beneficial to the people of this country.

  19. It's common sense really, obviously in short supply where the government is concerned. There are various factors behind knife crime, but parenting is a major one.

  20. i heard the latest suggestions on the tv last and what a crock of shite !   taking kids who carry knives to visit A&E and visit the victims of knife crime WTF !   as if that is going to have any effect on these stoopid kids, these kids know when they take a knife out they might get into a fight and die, does gordon brown honestly think these kids will be cohersed into leaving the knife at home because they have seen someone bleeding on a hospital bed or watched some relative crying over a dead family member ?  if so he must be more stoopid than i thought !  only one way to deal with this, prison for carrying an offensive weapon, no cautions, no fines, straight to prison to receive 23hrs a day in a cell alone with only bread and water. i bet we would see all crime down if that is what happened in prison instead of gyms, playstations and talent contests !  x
