  1. He spent a very brief time with the Caps here in Washington, but I had admired him long before that.  As much as I hated to see him go, it was fitting for him to return to Vancouver to finish his career.  He was a solid player who never gave less than his absolute best on the ice.  Off the ice his contributions speak for themselves, being both a Clancy trophy and Foundation award winner.  Hockey will miss him.

  2. Great player classy guy. For so many yrs the face of Vancouver. I wish him the best

  3. shoot. i cried when Stevie Y hung them up. it just shows how much they loved the game.  or their all related to sidney crosby lol

  4. Trevor Linden is a class act.A leader and a fans friend.I got a Linden stick for a reason.I respect him and will miss him.

  5. Great player... I was hoping he'd play another year, but its his time.. i think he has another year in him though...

not sure on his personal life, but I bet if I did, I'd respect it.  He seems like a great guy.

  6. Didn't really see a lot of him as a player since he played for Vancouver and I'm in the eastern time zone, so not a real valid opinion. I did admire his conviction as a player rep and he seemed to genuinely care about the direction of the sport.

I'd give him a hand-shake and say " job well done".

  7. I wish he played for the Flyers.

If I were an NHL player and was holding a press conference to announce my retirement, I would be crying.

It would go something like this:

"Today-ay-ay.....I consider myself-elf-elf.....the luckiest man-an-an.....on the face of the Earth-rth-rth.

Not only will I miss-iss-iss.....the comraderie-ie-ie.....of those I played with and against-nst-nst.....I will miss-iss-iss.....shutting down Malkin and Crosby in the playoffs-offs-offs.....berating the refs and linesmen-en-en.....and holding the Stanley Cup aloft-oft-oft.....for the great fans-ans-ans.....of Philadelphia-a-a.

    The few things that I won't miss-iss-iss.....are putting up with-ith-ith.....you obnoxious reporters-ers-ers.....Some of you don;t know-ow-ow.....how close I came-ame-ame.....to kicking some ***-***-***.....after a tough game-ame-ame.

The other thing-ing-ing.....is-is-is.....what the h**l-ell-ell.....am I supposed to do-do-do.....with all my Vezina, Conn Smythe, and Hart Trophies-ies-ies.....since I have no more room-oom-oom.....for my next Stanley Cup-up-up."

  8. What's wrong with crying during a retirement announcement?  Steve Yzerman shed some tears during his announcement two years ago.

I didn't know much about Linden but he sounds like a respectable guy.

  9. Linden was a great player who was a nice man outside of hockey. He was always nice to the fans. That's why he was a fan favourite in Vancouver. I'd love to have him on my team, have a happy retirement Linden!

  10. I always respected him as a player.  He was always one of my favorites for some reason.

Plus, it blows my mind... he was captain of the 1994 Canucks team, and is still playing!  Not only was he in the series (there are so few players from the 94 finals left), but he was CAPTAIN.  Dayum.  heh.
