Finally leaving on our honeymoon to Playa del Carmen...what to wear??

I'm coming from relatively cold weather up north...not used to 90 degree heat! I don't want to overpack...nor underpack. So, if you've been there or live near there...what would be good to wear on a typical day? I was planning on some cotton tie shorts, tanks and sandals. We *might* go on some tours....I'm assuming I should bring my swimsuit on those as well?

Thanks!

  1. Take stuff that is thin, light and cool. Its very humid so clothing that is heavy, dark like denim would be uncomfortable. shorts, tanks, skirts, capris, light tee's would be a perfect. I suggest packing at least 2 -3 bathing suits. Sandals are the best, don't even mess with socks and shoes unless you plan on working out

Take your bathing suit where ever you go. There are beautiful places to swim almost everywhere you go. I personally wouldn't wear it under my clothing, its just too hot. Throw it in a bag. Don't worry about a beach towel, unless you must have one. Pack light for the excursions.

  2. It sounds like what you're bringing is perfect.  You will never want anything with sleeves (but be sure to use lots of sunscreen on your shoulders, back and arms!).   Yes, it's a good idea to wear your swimsuit under your clothes if you're going to have the opportunity to take a dip on your tours.  For evening, sundresses and capris are appropriate.  If you're staying in a resort, you may want a sweater for the air-conditioned restaurants.  If you have longer hair, be sure to bring clips or something to keep your hair up... it's so much cooler that way.
