Finally narrowed it down to two Drivers, Callaway or Ping?

I am looking at the Callaway Hyper X, and the Ping Rhapsody, both for a woman. I am unfortunately not able to swing either before buying. I have used a men's Ping G10 before and loved the feel of it, so it made me think go for Ping, then I read about the Hyper X and thought that looked good too? Ugh it is driving me nuts, I just need to make a decision.

But when you are looking at $300 you want it to be right. Also I currently use 12* and was thinking I may get more distance with 11* I know it's not much of a difference, but the Callaway comes in 11 and the Ping comes in 12 14 16, I don't think I want to go up any higher than 12, I get plenty of loft? Any of your help is GREATLY appreciated!!

  1. As it's a driver I'd go with the least amount of loft you can handle; as you want the distance.  Even 11 degrees isn't that low when you consider 8.5-10.5 is fairly typical.  I recently bought a driver without trying it & it was rubbish for my game.  I put it down to bad shaft choice.  So I'd go with Price (they're both good brands), the look you like as this will build confidence and then importantly concentrate on ordering the right shaft.  If you've got irons or drivers that you hit well use those shafts as a benchmark.

    Hope you choose well.

    Cheers.

  2. the lower loft does not neccesarily translate to more distance. First off, the loft listed on the clubhead is rarely accurate. The loft you need is dependant more on what the launch angle of the ball is based on your individual swing. You may get more distance from a higher loft.

  3. Try the TaylorMade R7. It's an excellent driver. Get it with a {60?} flex shaft which offers better control with better distance. If you hit a high ball, get a 10.5 degree loft. If you hit a low ball, get a 12 degree loft. Borrow one at the pro shop and hit a few balls.

  4. I agree with wbaker. You don't buy a car without test driving it first and seeing what's under the hood. Tell the store that you won't buy either until they let you get a good feel for what the clubs can offer you. You can easily take your business elsewhere.

  5. If your comfortable with the loft at 12 deg. an 11 would probably produce slightly more distance, but you might want to stick with what you're happy with.

  6. In all honesty,  I would not buy any club I had not the opportunity to hit....its like buying a pig in a poke.....too many dollars to spend on the hope that it will suit you.  Just my opinion mind you

  7. I agree with the first guy, try the Taylormade R7! I have one and i've been driving 290m-300m. It's great.

Though out of your two choices, I would definitely go with the Ping. Their drivers are much better than Callaways, the only drivers that are better than Ping's are Taylormade's.

  8. Callaway Hyper X. alot of my friends have that club and they are very happy with it. onto the degrees, 1 will not make much of a difference. <5 yards. It depends which you are most comfortable with. In general, the more loft there is, it increases the backspin, causing less sidespin(and therefore less hooking/slicing)

  9. Go to Golf Smith or Golf Galaxy used there launch monitor see which one is best for you. I was about to replace my Taylor Made Burner Driver with either the Callaway BB 460 or Ping G10 but I'm hitting more yardage with my Burner. Try to consider the Taylor Made Burner also. Good Luck!
