So I am starting a dental hygiene program in the fall. It offers a associates in dental hygiene. I have already been approved for the standard amount which will cover school expenses but nothing, like a house! I am not able to get grants since I already have a bachelors in psychology from ASU. I have hit a roadblock in getting money. So, do I just pay the high interest rate through Salliemae or are there alternatives. I already checked Chase for the medical loan, they do not see my school as one that they work with. Please help!

  1. There are loans you can take out. I had a Bachelor's Degree in Business before I got into hygiene school and I qualified for a number of subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Just goto your school counseling office and fill out the standard forms for financial aid.

Congratulations on getting into hygiene school! It's a good career.

  2. Since Dental Hygiene is in demand and you should make about $40 an hour when you graduate, you should do what it takes to live and finish the program. I would suggest to move in with family, but if you own a home, this is no time to sell a house in AZ.
