I'd like to be a special education teacher in MA-on the high school level. I have my Bachelors Degree- and need a Masters...I'm broke, and my credit is in the toilet- Is there any place where I could find financial aid to get a Master degree in Special Education?

  1. You don't need to have good credit to qualify for federal loans.  Complete you taxes then complete the FAFSA.

I doubt that MA requires a masters.  No state really requires a masters when there is a shortage of educators.

You need to see about completing the requirements for a Preliminary License.   Then you can work and attend school at night, on the weekends, via the internet (be leary of this one... if it's not a state school), and/or summers.  Then worry about your masters degree.

  2. either go to your local employment development department, or go to the school itself, and they will inform you on the financial aid available.  You would qualify for a grant possibly in some states in the US.  Teachers are needed.  Call the United Way in your area also, they may be able to refer you as well.  Good Luck to you!
