Financial aide help! married women!?

when i was living w/ my parents i wasn't qualified for financial aide because of my parents income. i am 20 and married now, will i qualify for financial aide now? i am currently living with my husband who we both know that we don't make enough. but will my parents income still matter because i remember seeing it on the application?

Once you got married your parents became irrelevant to your financial aid situation.  Your parents are no longer legally allowed to deduct you on their taxes as a dependent.  Thus, in the eyes of the federal government you are "independent."

However, your husband is now part of the picture.  You will have to file information on your joint income.

As long as you are married or over the age of twenty-five you don't have to provide your parent's income on the FAFSA.
