Fincail aid?

ok i have a friend that would probably kill me if he knew i was doing this but what ever

he is a senior in high school and a very intelligent young man he is one of the smartest people i have ever met and he has been accpected to his first choice college and would love to got there one problem he does not have enough money to pay the tuition and they have not sent him an aid package yet he is being admit for the spring so i am not sure if that is why they have not sent him an aid package yet cause i hear they arenot comingout til june but he has to decide if he want to go there he has to tell thmy by may first so what can he do to be able to pay for northeastern i mean i donlt want heim top be screwed he really cannot afford it he live with his aunt and uncle who are his legal graudain but his parent are alive and live in Haiti they cannot afford to take care of him which is why they sent him to America in the first place what can he do to make sure he get good aid

  1. Well... I assume he filed a FAFSA form to apply for financial aid. And most people do this on the internet... so he should be able to log into his account on the government web site. There he should be able to see if his financial aid was approved.... There should be some sort of status. However, I usually am notified by my school when my aid offer comes through. They have my email address and send me an automatic notifcation.

    So have him check the FAFSA web site. If there is nothing there, he might need to contact the school he is planning on attending. He would need to contact their financial aid department. (that's assuming he chose them as a school when he filled out the application for financial aid).

  3. Well not sure if he can fill out a FAFSA, unless he is an American citizen. It's hard to get federal aid, unless he's been living here for years and has U.S. citizenship.

    If money is tight, it would be wise to attend community college for the first 2 years because it's cheaper.

    Then transfer to the University of his choice and that should save some money. Plus he can work while going to community college.
