Find A Key seeking success in the NSPCC School Service Maiden Hurdle at Kelso on 2nd May
The Class 4 NSPCC School Service Maiden Hurdle will get hosted by Kelso over two miles and two furlongs on Wednesday, 2nd May. Taking part in the £2,599 purse race is a line-up of fourteen runners who are four-year and older thoroughbreds.
For the majority of the contestants it will be the first time that they will race at Kelso and a few, who have raced there, have never been able to celebrate success.
The most consistent entry for the race is Find A Key, Definite Article’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Jims Leader. He has raced only four times during the career with the recent three being the 2012 outings.
Find A Key was entered as the 4/1 favourite in his career debut which was in the form of Durham C.C.C Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at Hexham on 11th April over two miles and half a furlong.
Not only was he entered as the favourite, the five-year-old claimed the very first venture too while riding with Paul Gallagher.
Through the three outings of the current season, Find A Key has failed to post a win but has maintained the standard that has not gone down the second position.
He secured a second position in his seasonal debut on 17th January in the Betvictor.Com Maiden Hurdle at Ayr over two miles. The race was dominated by Lexi’s Boy who was paired up with Jason Maguire. The winner led by a good six lengths.
The 5/4 favourite of the race, Cadore, finished seventh on the field of ten.
His second race of the season was at Ayr again in the Best Odds At Betvictor.Com Novices’ Hurdle at 14th February over two miles. This time Find A Key had to come at terms with the same position by 3 ¾ lengths’ margin by which the winner, Un Guet
Apens, led.
Till yet the last and the third outing at Ayr came in the form of Bacardi Superior Rum Maiden Hurdle on 9th March over two miles and four furlongs. It was a very close contention between the 5/4 favourite winner, Red Rocco, and Find A Key as he
was reeling in for the wire at a mere neck’s difference.
Today the race will mark his fourth race of the season and the first attempt at Kelso.
