Find Design work in UK with working holidays visa?

Question

is it hard to find design jobs in the UK while on a working holidays visa? I have been doing freelance work for a couple of years in australia and planning to get a working holidays visa to the UK to travel and perhaps pick up some design jobs along the way. would there be a chance to pick up some freelance/part time/temp work or even full time work while on that visa? or employers wont even consider hiring me coz of the working holidays visa? thanks!

Depends where you want to be based.

London has most of the UK design work available at short notice, also Bristol, Leeds, Northampton and Glasgow. I presume Belfast has some design work, but none that spring to mind.

Many Aussies are known to register with agencies (Manpower, Reed, Brook Street) to just that - work short term on a holiday working visa.

Downside - be prepared for grunt work and low pay.

Upside, the low pay is because of the 'emergency tax rate', which you get back just before you leave :-)
