does anyone know where i can find out someones health history who has passed away?

My boyfriend never knew his dad and we know he has passed away and want to know about his health before he died so he knows if anything is hereditary? any help would be grateful....

In the past it use to be a big deal to know your families health history. However, with today's modern medicine knowing your family history isn't such a big deal. Today most hereditary illnesses can be detected with testing.

Must be a Death Certificate

Find the cause of death and you may have a clue

If your bf is worried he should get checked out

Try contacting his families GP or Solicitor

First get yourself a copy of the death certificate , that will give reason for death and could also enable you to find some contact details for those that maybe knew the guy

You will have to go through the government agency that deals with health care where his father last resided. As well, he will have to prove that he was his father as well as proof of his death. However, his legal rights to those files may not exist (meaning his rights). In some places, the death would have had to occurred 20 years ago, etc. There are privacy protection laws that exist... you will need to find out what they are.

I hope he's able to find out. I know exactly how that feels as I am adopted and know nothing.
