  1. I'm assuming these are two seperate problems.

    The first one simplified is:

    (x+3)(x-1)

    The first domain is:

    (negative infinity, positive infinity)

    The second one simplified is:

    (x-1)(x+1)

    The second domain is:

    (negative infinity, positive infinity)

  2. (x^2+2x-3 ) / (x^2-1)

    =(x+3)(x-1) / (x+1))(x-1)

    =(x+3)/(x+1)

The Domain is the set of all Real Numbers except x= -1

-1 has to be excluded because it makes the denominator=0, and

division by 0 in not allowed.
