Find the value of c for which the line 3x+cy=5

a) passes through the point (3,1)

b)is parallel to the y-axis

c)is parallel to the line 2x+y= -1

d) has equal x- and y-intercepts

e) is perpendicular to the line y-2=3(x+3)

Any help will be great i already did "a" so just write the value of c, so that i can check if its right

  1. Greetings,

    a) 3x + cy = 5 for x =3, y = 1

    3(3) + 1c = 5

    c = 5 - 9

    c = -4

    b) to be parallel to the y-axis, c = 0, x = 5/3

    c) slope of this line is -2 = -3/c, c = 3/2

    d) when y = 0, x = 5/3

    when x = 0, y = 5/c = 5/3 so c = 3

    e) slope of line is 3, slope of perpendicular is -1/3 = -3/c

    c = 9

    Regards
