x + y = 40

S = x ( ( x + y ) ( 4 + ( p i ) ) )

What are the values of x and y that minimize S? Please provide an explanation of method/thought process.

Thanks!

  1. since the first relation is given

    S = x(160 + 40pi)

    and to minimize this x has to be 0 which would result in S=0

    so x=0 and y=40

    thts the answer to this problem but r u sure this was the problem? b/c this sort of problem are usually little more complex
