  1. 1st interpretation (my best shot):

    (5 - 7)/(x - [- 3]) = - 0.5

    - 2/(x + 3) = - 0.5

    0.5(x + 3) = 2

    0.5x + 1.5 = 2

    0.5x = 0.5

    x = 1

    Answer: x = 1

    Proof:

    (5 - 7)/(1 - [- 3]) = - 0.5

    - 2/(1 + 3) = - 0.5

    - 2/4 = - 0.5

    - 1/2 = - 0.5

    - 0.5 = - 0.5

    2nd interpretation:

    5 - 7/(x - [- 3]) = - 0.5

    5 - 7/(x + 3) = - 0.5

    7/(x + 3) = 5 + 0.5

    5.5(x + 3) = 7

    5.5x + 16.5 = 7

    5.5x = 0.5

    x = 1/11

    3rd interpretation:

    5 - 7/x - (- 3) = - 0.5

    - 7/x + 3 = - 5.5

    7/x = 8.5

    8.5x = 7

    x = 14/17

    4th interpretation:

    (5 - 7)/x + 3 = - 0.5

    - 2/x = - 3.5

    3.5x = 2

    x = 20/35 or 4/7

  2. [5 - 7]/[x - (-3)] = -0.5

    -2/[x + 3] = -0.5

    -2 = -0.5[x + 3]

    -2 = -0.5x - 1.5

    0.5x = 2 - 1.5

    0.5x = 0.5

    x = 0.5/0.5

    x = 1

  3. [5 - 7]/[x - (-3)] = -0.5

    -2/[x + 3] = -0.5

    -2 = -0.5[x + 3]

    -2 = -0.5x - 1.5

    0.5x = 2 - 1.5

    0.5x = 0.5

    x = 0.5/0.5

    x = 1

    i think this enough for you to understand the question

    good luck

  4. Sup pplz,

    Ok it is a crazy question lol but it depends on how you work it out right

    because i am assuming that you are in year 8 i will explain it in year 8 language not just s**+* it on the page lol

    Well 5 minus 7 is obviously -2 right so thats one part done,

    Now the tricky part, X-(-3) actually means x+3 BECAUSE when you have two minus signs you plus. Its a rule that you have to follow. so just because it says x-(-3) it dosn't mean you have to minus it means you have to plus 3 to the x, because when you have two negatives in an equation like this one you chage the sign to + so it becomes x+3 LOL

    So now instead of,

    X-(-3) its X+3

    Okay now we right the original equation out so its,

    5 - 7 / x - (-3) = -0.5

    The we right the new equation out,

    -2 / X + 3 = -0.5

    So now we do this,

    we take the 0.5 and swap its spot with the -2

    so we have the equation looking like this,

    -2 = -0.5 (X+3)

    So now -0.5 times by 3 is -1.5 but we put the x next to the -0.5

    the new equation is,

    -2 = -0.5x * -1.5

    so now we swap back the two we swapped earlier and we should get an equation as such,

    0.5x = 2-1.5

    The reason why the 2 is not -2 and the 0.5 is not minus anymore is because when you move it from one side to another it changes from negative to positive and from positive to negative lol so the -2 was negative but since we moved it to the other side it became +2 lol same as the 0.5

    So now we do,

    2 - 1.5 which is 0.5 so we should have a sum as such ,

    0.5x=0.5

    so now if we put x on the other side the equation becomes,

    x = 0.5/0.5

    now 0.5/0.5 is 1

    so X = 1

    Hope you get it lol

  5. 5-7/x-(-3)=-0.5

    -2/x+3=-0.5

    x+3=-2/-0.5

    x+3=4

    x=1

  6. The answer to the problem you listed is 1, not 2; maybe youve typed it wrong but (5 - 7) / (x - (-3)) = - 0.5 is only true when x = 1

    heres why,

    5 - 7 = -2

    x - (-3) = x +3

    cross multiply to simplify for "-2 / -0.5 = x +3"

    4 = x + 3,

    x = 1

  7. ok first the numerator

    5-7 = -2

    so it becomes -2/x-(-3)

    now denominator becomes x+3 as because -(-3) means +3

    so its -2/x+3= - 0.5

    now we cancel - sign on both sides

    so 2/(x+3) = .5

    2/.5 = x+3

    4 = x+ 3

    x = 1 !!!

    the answer is not 2 but 1

    if u substitute 1 u would get -.5 on right hand side !!!
