Question:

Finding A Cure: One Song At A Time?

I know five teenage girls who are putting together a benefit concert for the American Diabetes Association. They have a venue and a few artists lined up. They just need support and money, now. So far they have contacted several people to donate or sponsor them.

Who should I get in contact with to help them?

  1. Sorry I really don't know, but I hope it all works out. Good luck

  2. My school group did something like this for Darur. You need permission from the city (depending on where the venue is), you'll need food / drink, enough artists so people won't be bored yet you won't spend the entire time switching musicians. For money you could go to local businesses, they're usually pretty good about giving money, especially if you bribe them (name on the back of a t-shirt, poster, etc). You'll need some way to advertise (radio stations, fliers, handouts, word of mouth, myspace bullitens), but when you put up fliers around the neighborhood, you might need a permit (depending on your city) or at least permission from the people who own the property.

Most cities frown upon teenagers trying to take control, no matter how good of a cause it is, so be prepared to have a few doors slammed in your face.
