Find an equation of a a vertical line that passes through the point (-2, -7). the equation has to be in the form y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

  2. vertical means up and down, that means that x never changes, this equation doesn't have a y intercept.  It's simply x = -2...


  3. recall that the slope of the line represents its steepness

    if the line is vertical, its slope is undefined (infinity)

    if it is vertical, it should pass only one abscissa

    if it passes throught (-2, -7), then it passes through -2 all along, whatever is the y

    thus the equation is x =-2

    it can't be expressed in y=mx + b form because y is not determined by x and it can be anything as long as x remains -2

    =)

  4. For a vertical line the slope is undefined and the equation of the vertical line passing through (-2,-7) is x=-2.
