Question:

Finding Indian Ancestry for family tree ???

I've been working towards making my family tree & wondered if you'd help me with my research.

Although, I'm of Indian origin myself, I was born in UK but, my dad, grandfather, and all were born in India.

While browsing the Internet, I couldn't get any success in the results and hence thought to get help this way.

I'm creating my family tree and wish to get either copies (if possible) of birth certificate (and death certificate) of my grand father and generation before that.

Is there any organisation in India who works as "geneology expert" who specialises in tracking down the family or anyone you'd possibly recommend to get in touch in order to get hold of birth & death certificates of my ancestor?

Any help in pointing me in right direction would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Possibly a hospital which usually has this info in their libary, the last college I attended did!

  2. You can try in  HARIDWAR U.P.(INDIA) .Some Brahmani (Cast) they keep records of many generation if your ancestors went to Haridwar for any religious purpose.

  3. Please check-up from 'Kul-prohit', in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India,; our great-great-great... fathers, with the record of our family, travelling to Haridwar, in olden times immersing the 'flowers or bones';  they used to go Ganga or Kurukhetra or any sacred place, with rivers or tanks by Hindus or Sikhs. I had prepared a record, for our eleven families, started in 1700,  in about two hours from my 'Kul-prohit, in  Haridwar, during 1988. Will you see and study our ' Tree, of eleven our  / 'GENERATIONS' families, during 320 years'; it is interesting to see our relatives, throughout the country?
