  1. There are two physical types of poles, those that are mounted at both ends, and those that are simply mounted at the base and come with a platform. Those are a lot harder to work on because the pole moves quite a bit and the platform is small. A club that I taught a few lessons at has the poles mounted in 6 feet of concrete, and they still move wildly.

My recomendation is to use one that is fully stable. You can either get one that is locked into place or one that is removable. I have the removable pole from x-pole. It's 50mm, chrome and takes down/sets up in about 10 mins. DO NOT get just any pole from an adult shop or ebay. There are many poles out there that are not designed to hold your body weight and will fall, causing injury to you and anyone watching. Then there is the matter of ebay... there are many people on there trying to make a quick buck by swindling unsuspecting consumers. They will advertise an 'xtreme' pole, trying to confuse you, but they are cheaply made and the 'chrome' peels right off after a few uses... avoid scams and go to the xpole website!

  2. Here are some available online:

You can always check ebay and your local lingerie/video/toy shops as well.  They usually have things like poles, swings, etc.  Pricilla's has them in KY (not sure where you're located).  One toy party I went to (Pure Romance for the ladies http://pureromance.com ) the hostess had a travel kit available for sell which included the pole, mounting gear, cleaner, instructional video and generic music.

    Hope this helps!

  3. This is an odd answer: But depending on what you're looking for, just a simple one with no other obstacles has to mounted to the floor and ceiling. But a free standing one has to have some counter weights at the bottom or you go flying pole and all. A volleyball net pole could work... If you find one, let me know an prove me wrong please. :D
