  1. Depends. Do you think a teenager has that kinda money to spend? I suggest you get a PowerShot A series camera and start from there. It's less expensive and have lots of features a beginner can learn from.

  2. Look at cnet and dcresource reviews for the Canon a570 or a590.  Both these cameras feature red eye removal, image stabilization, manual controls and great picture quality, 4x zoom with the ability to add things like underwater case and different lenses for telephoto and super macro down the road.

If you feel this is something you REALLY want to get into and are going to be spending a lot of time work and hobby wise there's nothing wrong with getting the $700 EOS... it looks like a good choice for that price range, but for around $150 you can get something that will have most all the controls the EOS has (and takes great photos too!).  If you decide to go SLR down the road, it's always handy to have a nice compact as a 2nd camera.

  3. i think you might want to start out with a camera a little less expensive just incase you become less interested in photography. its a very nice camera but a lot of money for a teen to spend.  i'd wait until you're absolutly positive you want to stick with this. but nice camera choice! lol
