okay, i dont have a horse yet, but i will hopefully get one soon. i have taken lessons for about 3 years now, and i love horses to death. i ride english and love to jump.....bareback too! Anyways, we are moving soon, and we are either going to get a house with like 7 acres and a 4 stall barn, or we are going to move in a house that is kinda in the country more and there is a barn right down the road where i can keep a horse!! am i in a great position or what????? my parents and i checked out the barn and we loooove it!

i have already started looking for horses on a site called "horsetopia" its great, but i only found one horse that we really like and a good price. we called up and they said he was a cribber. my mom told me that we wernt going to get a horse with known problems, and other people have told us that cribbers are a hastle. is there any other site on the internet that has horses for sale? or do you know any horses for sale in virginia or noth carolina(in the reigon) thx!

  3. Find someone that knows horses to help. There are as many crooks in that business as there are in used cars.

  4. You can find horses listed on these websites:

    www.equine.com

    www.equinehits.com

    www.dreamhorse.com

    www.agdirect.com

    www.horsetopia.com

    www.horseville.com

    [Just fill in your criteria!]

    OR

Go to a local tack shop or feed shop, they usually have a bulliten board of horses for sale locally.

And as a side note: YES cribbers can be alot of trouble. I own a cribber, but she will not crib with her cribbing collar. If that horse sounds like a dream, ask for a trial period before you buy and try a cribbing collar. If it doesnt respond to the collar in your circumstances, DO NOT make that purchase.

    Hope that helps! =]

  5. how about Finding nemo?

  6. Congratulations on making a great choice in life, owning a horse!  It sounds like your Mom is pretty smart too!  I owned a cribber and they are a BIG hassle,  Your beautiful barn would have huge divets chewed out of it along with fences and any other thing it can find to chew on!  Sounds like your parents have done great by having you take lessons.  The biggest mistake that people make is buying the first horse they see as their excitement is overwhelming.  Another thing to look for is trot the horse, if it stumbles at all with the front feet, get in the car and drive away, this is founder, you don't want anything to do with this.  If You are keen to jump, make sure the horse has not jumped under the age of 5, early jumping causes future leg problems or hoof problems.  We have a saying, don't buy other people's problems, and I have seen too many kids change their opinions of horses after a poor purchase choice.Do you have a breed of horse that you are interested in?  If you want to jump I would recommend a gelding,(mares come into season and be quite a handful for first time buyer) they are calmer, 10 years is when a horse starts to get a brain and you can practice without dealing with their child attitudes!  If you are at all interested please email me with what your wants with your mount and I will advise you with what breed of horse would suit.  If you find a horse and have any questions I will do my best to advise you from my 30+ years of riding, showing, judging, and buying horses.  No cost at all just my love for the animals and not wanting anybody to have bad experiences which could end their love.
