Question:

Finding a job in another state before moving there?

I currently live in south carolina, but as soon as I finish with school I want to move to NYC. How would I go about getting a job there before I actually move. I would not have the money to go a few months without working, I would need to start as soon as I moved. I do know about those job listings sites; hotjobs etc. but a lot of employers don't like to hire people who aren't in the area. Has anyone been in this situation and what did you do?

  1. My husband has done it three times and every time the companies paid his relocation expenses.  The first time we were in Arkansas and he received a job offer in Los Angeles.  From there, he received a job offer at the same company located in Texas.  Again, they paid the moving expense.  The third time, right now, we are relocating back to Arkansas for another job.  Once again, they're paying for the cost of moving.  All you have to do is ask.
