Finding a mate for a lovebird?

Does it matter if i put a male lovebird that is 4 years old with my own 8 year old female lovebird will they even mate or no? and im 100%sure that my female lovebird really wants to mate it is giving my signs.. ty for any help

  2. As long as you leave them in separate cages for a couple weeks so that they can get used to each other, putting them together should be fine. Just watch them and make sure that they are not Seriously fighting. They may disagree a little but that is all part of them getting used to each other. If you want them to mate and you want to raise them babies you will need to put a nesting box in the cage.BUT! It is very important that you understand that raising babies birds is hard work. So that the babies will be friendly you will need to hand feed them. You hand feed the babies from the time that their eyes open to weaning. You will have to get up in the middle of the night, several times.   Good Luck!
