  1. i would go with a hp or acer. get one with about 1gb of ram, and probably a 200gb hard drive with a intel core 2 duo. You could probably find a pretty solid cpu at best buy or office max.

hope this helped!ohhh and a little side note, not sure about the pricing..

  2. Try this site: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...

Tigerdirect has many reliable computers, if your not interested ordering online, you should get either a Dell or Acer.

  3. I think your needs are very minimal aside from either RAM or disk storage (you were unclear on which).

I suggest you but the cheapest dual core machine you can, and add either another stick of RAM (30$) or a WD6400AAKS 640GB hard disk (85$). All machines are fast enough for productivity tasks, all write to DVDs, and all can run Vista fine if given 2GB of RAM, so why not save some money unless you have an unstated need.

  4. HP is great. Acer is okay. Dell is okay. but I don't like eMachines or Compaq. Laptops are awesome! I have a laptop and a desktop. They're both HP brand. I love them. They work good. You shouldn't load them down with a bunch of downloads because it takes up more memory and makes them slowerr. Not only HP pc's but all pc's!
