Finding a "Home" in England?

I have recently moved from Sweden to Scotland-Glasgow and it does not really fit my wife and I. We are going to take a tour of England today and see if we can find an area of England that might suit us better. I am here looking for sugestions.

Earlier this year I posted and had many responses for Glasgow so we gave it a try, it is not working so well. On our way up we stopped in Cumbria and feel in Love, this trip we are headed to Harrogate and than south.

What do you think? My wife is a IT proffessional and has her own buisness I am a Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor.

We are not big party people but enjoy Jazz art and Wine. I would like a place that we feel safe of course there is good and Bad everywhere but not in your face Bad. Weather does not effect me only hot weather and oceans are not really my thing I love the country side, so you see my problem. All of England is open though so take your best shot and I will take a look.

Thank you!

  1. I think you should try Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire - it's a really beautiful mill town in the Yorkshire countryside and yet it has really good road and rail connections to both Leeds and Manchester, so if you find you need access to big cities then it isn't too difficult.

Hebden Bridge is artistic, cultural and bohemian. There's a very strong live music and theatre scene there, and most of the shops are individual and creative. It's very safe and friendly, but is full of all the facilities and contacts you need. If you wanted somewhere slightly more rural then there are several villages around Hebden Bridge such as Cornholme, Mytholmroyd,, Heptonstall or Luddenden which are much quieter. And if you're going south from Harrogate it won't be far out of your way! Try it! Good luck!! Hx

  4. hey,

I would try Oxford if I were you.

Its an educated and classy city - it has gorgeous art galleries, as well as jazz clubs, wine taste testing places - its a really 'cultured' place.

There are plenty of job opportunities for personal trainers and careers in IT in Oxford too.

you could also try Cambridge - although its not as fun as Oxford..

good luck - i hope you enjoy england.

    I LOVE it!!
