We've been finding blood spots around where my 6 yr. old himi cat has been eating and sleeping. took him to the vet - urinalysis showed UTI but no blood in urine. antibiotics didn't solve blood spots - recently found larger spot (about the size of a dime) and vet is stumped. he was boarded at the vet - there was no blood found in cage. he was completely checked over by 2 vets and they can't find where the blood could be coming from. the blood spots are drops - not sprayed like if he would sneeze. anyone have a similar experience? we're all stumped! please help!

  1.   Could it be gum problems after he`s eaten certain foods which you may have given him but not the vet.

  2. Did you check for any physical wounds? My cat used to chew at his feet and i would see blood and it was because he had a wound on the pad that was hard to see and it was getting infected.

  3. I'm sure you checked his paws, but thought I mention just in case. Paw pads can get dry and cracked, or the paws can get things stuck in them.

  4. Maybe from the a**s? Have they checked his stools? IBD can cause bloody stools that isn't really noticed in/on the stool until you really take a look and even then it often doesn't look like blood but it is.

Have you looked at all 10 toes to make sure there isn't a ripped nail?

Maybe a mystery wound no one can locate because of all the fur?

Good luck! I hoep you get it figured out!

  5. I am a vet too. I had a cat like that that came in. He was a gray cat, very old. I looked him over a million times. Then one day for some reason i looked at his claws. The front claws were OK. And So was the back right one. But when I looked at the back left one, the second claw had been ripped out of his foot. It kept bleeding cause when it healed up, he would bite at it. His owner said that she thought a raccoon did it, and I thought that was very likely, because raccoons are really strong and mean.

I hope this helps! And you cat gets better!
