Question:

Finding distant relatives?

My grandma was telling me she wanted to to talk to some of her distant relatives in The Netherlands. She asked me if I could search and see if I could find some of them.

I've searched the internet, and I can't find any good free websites that can give me any good information. Can somebody please help me!

Thanks in advance!

  1. The problem with this is that genealogy is a historical research of deceased ancestors.  Genealogy sites will not have info on the living.......and in many cases any info of any one that lived in the last 50-100 years.  And, since many genealogy sites are available to all nations, then if you do find someone who posted information that also connects to your family, there is no way to know if that other person who posted their family tree is from the Netherlands or Canada, unless you email them and ask them.  I have been contacted by people from England and Wales on genealogy sites and there was no way for me to know that is where they were from unless they told me.
