Question:

Finding free preschool?

Some states have free preschool programs, and I know of one school district near me that has one, but I don't live in it. I'm a single mom, in the state of Missouri. I'm getting ready to move this summer, and I have a 15 month old, so this is maybe early thinking, but, how can I find out what school districts in my state offer free preschool?

  1. Look into Head Start. If the local high school has a tech program they might offer a free preschool.

  2. Try head start

  3. Many High schools have a preschool program where the students are the teachers. This may not seem like a good idea but since we only teach once a week we spend much more time on our lessons than an average teacher would also their is one on one learning for your child. the program i work in is not free but is very cheep ( about $150 for the whole year. I suggest calling your local high schools to see if they have a program like this. :)

  4. Just call the school district and see if you can go into their program as a transfer cuz of employment in their area. You can call the Department of Social Services like WIC or welfare. You can call some churches that may offer free childcare.

  5. I would look  into Head Start it is a national program.

  6. Many private preschools have financial aid programs.  Most do not advertise this, so you'd have to ask.  I'd recommend checking out preschools after you move.  When you have found one or two that you like the most, ask the director if financial aid is available and how to apply.  Our church's preschool has such a program.  It is funded by the United Methodist Women.  Good luck in your search.

  7. Call your school district and ask about a Title I, ABC program or in-school preschool program.

Look in your phone book and see if there are any HeadStart programs in your area.
