the question is: whats the deepth of a lot if its 45 feet wide and the street has 620 square yards?

the anwser key says to convert square yards to sq ft so 620X9=5580 and to divide by the feet but I think the key is wrong because it says 4680 divided by the 45 feet which equals 124 but I have know idea where they got the 4,680

  1. maybe they meant 520 square yards. 520x9=4680.

  2. 620(9)/45 = 124 is correct

    The 4680 is obviously a misprint.

  3. I think you are right!

    The number 4,680 actually is 5580.

    Since 45ft x 124ft = 5580 sq ft   (not 4680)

    The book can be wrong sometimes.

    Unless there are others information we may need to solve the question.

    The word (that's "street") is bothered me, since it talks about the "lot", not the street.

    Good Luck!

  4. width = 45 ft

    Area = 520 sq yd (NOT 620) = 4680 sq ft

    depth x width = area

    depth = area / width = 520(9) / 45

    = 4680 / 45 = 104 ft

  5. 620 yd^2 = 620 x 9 = 5580 ft^2. If it's 45' wide, it's 5580/45 = 124' deep

    I don't know where they got the 4680 either. Probably a typo in a badly proof-read book
