Finding my past?

does anyone know how to search for relatives back in the 1800's some of the websites i have been on are usuless i need the sites in the UK and if anyone can help me trying to trace my mum's great grandad dont know his full name but i know his daughter's name who is my grandma's mum this is a headache!!!!!

  1. Justme will probably come in behind me, and can give you great info on UK based research sites.  

    This is general info, as to HOW TO AVOID the headache. The basic process is to work back, and USE DOCUMENTATION, one step at a time.  Most people try to rush through, which can get overwhelming.  You need to have good records of grandma's mum (gr grandma).. depending on when she was born, that may be a birth certificate, a census record, or ??

    I suspect that you have not "solidified" your info with verification. In the process of that verification, the full names will show up.
