Question:

Finding restrictions on a California car insurance policy?

I was involved in a minor accident while driving my mother-in-law's car. I am on her policy, so assumed I would be covered, but was just told that I might not be because I was driving for work. Where on the policy does it show whether or not I was covered? I don't want to keep driving her car for work unless I am.

  1. Your question could not be answered in one word.find useful tips here.http://car-insurance.online-tips.info/ca...

  2. For auto insurance the quick way to get a good rate is do a rate comparison on auto policies. Make certain that you compare similar policies with the same limits, car make, location, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison.

What I usually recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have top name insurers and can give many quotes on car insurance polices.

  3. There could possiably be a restriction on that if you were driving the car in a work function then yes they have a base to stand on we here at my company have a clause that you have to state if the car is being used for business purposes if they answer yes and they actually are you will be denied. But check in your policy dec page they should give you the restriction lists in some sort of fine print capacity or they will not be able to deny the claim.

  4. You're not going to like my answer.  Most auto insurance policies do not cover the use of a car for business purposes unless you declare the business use to the insurance company so it can be used to properly rate your premiums.

Jobs like courier, pizza delivery, small package delivery, etc that is done with a privately owned vehicle (not company owned) must be declared to the insurance carrier, because you represent a greater risk due to the added exposure to traffic. Sorry, but you may not be covered. Please check the "Declarations" page of the policy.
