Hi,

I am in Y9 and i am struggling on finding the nth term.

I know how to work out the nth term on normal positive numbers but when it comes to fractions and minus numbers i get stuck.

I have two questions:

The first one is...

-3,-6,-9...

I know the difference is 3 so does that mean the nth term is 3n, or -3n?

Or do i just have it totally wrong?

Second question is:

1/2,3/4,1...

I have no idea of what the nth term is on question 2.

It would be great is you could just say...Question 1..nth term=......... Question 2..nth term=........

Thank you so so so so much for all your help!

  1. Q1.  The 1st difference is not 3, it's -3 so it's -3n.

Q2.  Not enough terms given to give a unique answer.
