hi guys, this problem is giving me a little difficulty:

an empty erlenmeyer flask weighs 231.1g. when filled with water (d=1.00g/cm^3), the flask and its contents weigh 497.6g.

-what is the flask's volume (in cm^3)?

-how much does the flask weight (in grams) when filled with chloroform (d=1.48g/cm^3)?

  1. Empty flask 231.1 gm.

    Flask + water 497.6 gm.

    Water 497.6 - 231.1 = 266.5 gm.

Volume of flask is 266.5 cm^3.

Cloroform 1.48 times the density of water.

    Chloroform in flask weighs 266.5 * 1.48 = 394.42 gm.

Adding weight of empty flask gives:

    394.42 + 231.1

    = 625.52 gm.
