  1. railroad tracks and edges of clearings where i live...

  2. Open fields with shrubs up to 4' high are the best places to look.  This ilso where Lyme Disease bearing ticks live so dress appropriately!

  3. They ripen in July.  But you won't find them in town.  There used to be a huge patch 20 years ago just north of the soccer field that is north of the School for the Deaf...but they built houses on it.

You'll find them out of town, in "wildish" areas. meadow, as opposed to under forests.  They need sunlight.

If you have space for them - they're really easy to grow.  The hard part is containing them.  They're quite "vigorous".

  4. Open fields in sunny locations. You won't find any in wooded areas. A lot of people pick them along the roadsides in back roads. Watch and don't pick under power lines if the electric company has sprayed.

  5. ... and, for next year..... keep watch on such areas during spring.... see when the white blooms are on the bushes and then mark the area so you can find it later... here's the flowers...

we used to tie strips of yellow plastic to them along the roadway.... but if you just draw a map, that will work, too..

  6. I live in PA and they are in season right now.  You can find them on edges of fields between fields and woods, along back roads.  Usually anywhere where there is an area with an open space and then woods.  One of the best places I can usually find hundreds of them (not the safest though) is to walk railroad tracks out in the country.  Just watch for trains and snakes.

  7. I am not sure where to find them, but I do know that they are coming into season. I was out mowing last night, and saw a big ripe one out in our raspberry/blackberry bushes. It was pretty tasty!

  8. Blackberries grow in hedgerows or reasonably dense undergrowth in any northen temperate climate. Spring/summer. You will not find them in pine forests.
