Finding x- and y- intercepts of a linear equation?

i need help on knowing HOW to do the problem

i've searched on the internet and im still having a hard time grasping how to do it

1.y=-5x+10

2.y=1/2x-4

  1. All you need to know, is in order to solve for the x intercept you set Y = 0

    and to solve for the y intercept you set x= 0

    If you wanted to solve for the y intercept in the first example set x = 0

    y = 5(0) + 10

    So the y intercept would be 10
