you HAVE to have rules...and when those rules get broken there has to be a consequence.and since they race for money...taking their money by making them pay a fine seems VERY fair to me. if they don't want to pay then they need to not break the rules.if there are no rules things will get bad.They would be able to do anything to win...maybe even deliberately run someone off the track and cause a big wreck. idk...but without rules there is no safety.

I agree with Jennifer M. there has to be rules or things could get way out of hand! They have all been guilty of breaking the rules at one time or another it's just a way of pushing the limits and seeing how far they can go!

Rules are not to punish drivers... a majority of the rules out there are for the safety for fans, and drivers... That being said some of those rules have a trickle down affect on other rules, that drivers want to break in order to go faster.

Bottom line is Toyota was trying to gain an advantage on the competition.  If you dont like all the rules, then go watch street racing were anything goes...  All sports have rules, fines, and such... Without rules there is no end to the money teams would spend on making cars faster, and there would not be anyone going to the races because one crash could put 4 beastly cars in the stands landing on fans, ending in one nasty fatal situation...

If Nascar does not fine people for rules they break, they will continue to break them.

I wouldnt worry about it too much, I bet only about 25-30% of the cheating gets caught... If you think about it, they were probably lucky to find this "magnet" that was under the gas pedal...  If you think about that even more, it could have been a decoy for a bigger cheating situation they have with that car... Who knows?!?!?
