Fingal Bay set to dominate John Smith´s Sefton Novices´ Hurdle Grade 1
Fingal Bay is likely to dominate proceedings in the John Smith´s Sefton Novices´ Hurdle Grade 1 at Aintree in England on Friday, April 13, 2012. The triumphant horse will be awarded a cash prize of £56,270.
A total of 19 runners have been attracted towards the class-1 race and their names are as follows: Fingal Bay, Cotton Mill, Ballyrock, Gullinbursti, Knock A Hand, Hawkes Point, Lovcen, Golden Call, Tap Night, Harry Topper, Ipsos Du Berlais, Makethe Mostofnow,
Poole Master, Forgotten Gold, Nagpur, Aikideau, Catcherinscratcher, Netminder and Ely Brown.
The going will be good to soft in the race, which is scheduled to start at 16:15 GMT. The stamina of all participants will be put to a stern test, as the total distance to cover for them will be 3 miles and 110 yards.
Looking at the overall record of Fingal Bay, the bookmakers have shown blind faith in his abilities. He is a fabulous performer and will definitely make it hard for the rest of the participants to match him at Aintree today.
The six-year-old gelding has entered four races over hurdles and has been victorious in all of them. It will be difficult for the rest of the runners to break his 100 percent winning record, thus the punters are likely to place maximum number of bets in
his favour.
The Philip Hobbs’ trained runner made his debut last year and stamped authority since his very first outing, where he won by a huge margin of 22 lengths. He has always been dominant since then, as no one has been able to match his speed and skills.
Fingal Bay will be ridden by Richard Johnson, who is a veteran rider and is nearing 400 victories over hurdles. His strike rate is a touch on the lower side and he needs to work in that area.
Cotton Mill, trained by John Ferguson, might be the one who breaks the winning streak of Fingal Bay, as he also has a spectacular record over hurdles. He has entered four of such events, winning three.
The five-year-old gelding will be ridden by Denis O'Regan, who has won 150 races over hurdles.
The real battle in this race will be amongst the top two whereas the rest of the participants are likely to struggle.
