Question:

Finger food recipes for a couples wedding shower??

We are giving a couples shower for my brother and his fiance. There will be about 20 couples at the shower. We are wanting to serve finger foods, but are concerned that finger foods are not going to be "manly" enough for all the guys at the shower. We just don't want to grill or have any type of "sit down and eat" foods, because there will be so much going on, and there will be drinking and we don't want every one to think they have to sit down and eat a "meal". Have any ideas or good finger food recipes?

  1. buy bulk at costco....taquitos, mini pizzas, eggrolls.......and chips and dips and they have great fruit and veggie platters

  2. I don't mess with finger foods that have to be prepared at the last minute.  All of these items can be made a couple of days ahead and served chilled or warmed in the oven before serving.

    BBQ chicken wings

    cocktail meatballs

    deviled eggs

    sliced fruit/veggies with dip

    sub sandwiches sliced every inch

    stuffed mushroom caps

    mini quiches

celery sticks stufed with peanut butter/cheese filling/tuna salad

    crab puffs

cold boiled shrimp with cocktail sauce

    cookies

    brownies

  3. Make you own trays; always have a veggie tray.

    A fruit tray too:

1 (8 ounce) package strawberry cream cheese, softened

1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme.

Using an electric mixer, blend cream cheese and marshmallow creme until mixed thoroughly.

    Pigs-n-a-Blanket:Smokies wrapped in biscuits.

Queso:  (for the men who needs meat)

    1 Large box Velveeta

1 Pound sausage; cooked and drained

    1 can HOT Rotel

    1 can Regular Rotel

    Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips:

    INGREDIENTS

    2 kiwis, peeled and diced

2 Golden Delicious apples - peeled, cored and diced

    8 ounces raspberries

    1 pound strawberries

    2 tablespoons white sugar

    1 tablespoon brown sugar

3 tablespoons fruit preserves, any flavor

    10 (10 inch) flour tortillas

    butter flavored cooking spray

    2 cups cinnamon sugar

    DIRECTIONS

In a large bowl, thoroughly mix kiwis, Golden Delicious apples, raspberries, strawberries, white sugar, brown sugar and fruit preserves. Cover and chill in the refrigerator at least 15 minutes.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Coat one side of each flour tortilla with butter flavored cooking spray. Cut into wedges and arrange in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle wedges with desired amount of cinnamon sugar. Spray again with cooking spray.

Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes. Repeat with any remaining tortilla wedges. Allow to cool approximately 15 minutes. Serve with chilled fruit mixture.

  4. You can make tiny finger sandwiches with cool cucumber and creme cheese filling, or smoked salmon. Mini burgers can be manly too:-). You can fill up puff pastry shells with brie cheese. My brother and my husband loves Caribbean patties.

  5. Buy frozen meatballs and heat some up in the slow cooker. Use different sauces for dipping such as marinara, sweet and sour, and barbecue. A nacho or a tostada bar would be good too. Put out chips or tostadas, cheese, shredded chicken and beef, salsa, guacamole, and sour cream.

  6. Sausage balls or sausage rolls are good.  These are both Bisquick recipes.  For the sausage rolls you mix 2 cups of Bisquick with 2/3 cup of milk.  Separate the dough into 2 balls.  Roll out half the dough and spread 1/2 lb sausage on it.  Roll it up like a jelly roll then wrap it in wax paper and then aluminum foil.  Do the same with the other half of the dough.  Freeze the rolls.  When ready to bake, thaw slightly then cut into 1/4" circles.  Bake for 15 minutes at 350degrees.

I can't remember the sausage roll recipe right off the top of my head, but it should be pretty easy to find.  It is basically Bisquick and cheeze and sausage, roll it into balls and bake.

  7. Meat ball/Sausage biscuits.    You take Pillsbury biscuits pull each one apart and spread one half on baking sheet. Spoon your favorite pasta sauce (I like Prego) over the biscuit half, cut meatball in half press on top of sauce, sprinkle with mozzarella (shredded cheese) and put the other half of biscuit on top.     You can sprinkle with oregano/parsley/melted butter mixture on top.  Bake 350 for 15 minutes.       ENJOY!

  9. pigs in a blanket with chili and cheese use regular hot dogs for more filling meal. never go wrong with a meat and cheese platter cheaper to buy lbs of lunch meat and cheese roll it yourself along with some finger rolls....

  10. Black bean & mango chicken salad

    16 oz. black beans, drained

    10 oz. frozen corn

    1 C chopped mango

    1/2 lb. grilled chicken

    1/2 C chopped red pepper

    1/3 C fresh cilantro

    1/3 C red onion

    1/4 C lime juice

    1 C Italian dressing

Toss all ingredients together, refrigerate at least an hour and serve in a large salad bowl with chips or crackers. You could even put it into pita bread and cut it into wedges. Just make a few batches of this to serve everyone adequately.

  11. BOURBON HOT DOGS

    1 small bottle BBQ sauce

    1 lb. brown sugar

    Bourbon whiskey to taste

5 lbs. hot dogs, cut into bite-sized pieces

Heat BBQ sauce in large pot.  Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved.  Add Bourbon, then sliced hot dogs.  Simmer on very low heat for 1/2 hour.  Turn heat off and serve in chafing dish to keep hot (or crockpot)... Serves 12-15

    HAM BALL

1 (4-1/2 oz) cans deviled ham

3 TB. chopped stuffed green olives

    1 Tb. prepared mustard

    tabasco sauce to taste

1 (3 oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened

    2 tsp. milk

    parsley

    assorted crackers

Blend ham, olives, mustard & tabasco.  Form into ball on serving dish & chill.  Combine cream cheese & milk;  frost ball with this mixture.  Chill.  Remove from refrigerator 15 min. before serving & trim with parsley.  Serve with crackers....

These 2 appetizers are "manly", and you can do some mini cream puffs and fill them with egg salad....   Veggie plates are popular (my husband and sons-in-law all love them)....The standard Spinach Dip (on box of Knorr pkg. vegetable soup mix) in a hollowed-out sourdough loaf....

  12. Pizza, Jamaican beef patties, party meatballs, chicken wings=finger food for guys

  13. Cold cuts, cheese and crackers, and breads of various types, with all the condiments to make your own mini-sandwich.....also veggie trays, and fruit trays, with dip. And a variety of chips and nuts. That along with the cake should do.

  14. kabobs could be an option and guys love those lil weenies in bbq sauce.
